You'd never know the struggles Basmati faced when looking at her now. She's a successful businesswoman and a proud mother to three healthy children. But that wasn't always the case. There was a time when Basmati and her husband struggled to feed their children each day and could not afford medical care, clothing or safe shelter. Before Heifer, she never thought things would change.

Today, thanks to the gift of a goat (from someone like you!), hard work and training, Basmati is giving her children a better life than she had. Her farm — once barren and bare — is bursting with fruit and vegetables, and she now has more than 50 chickens alongside her goats!

Basmati and her husband worked hard for their new life — and knowing that you believe in them gave them the strength to keep going.

"What Heifer does is inspire people," her husband says. "It increases their confidence. It makes them realize that with even a small investment, they can make a difference."
