Chuck Schumer

Friend,

Eleven years ago this week, we made history.

I remember watching Barack Obama's election night speech in Chicago on Nove‌mber 4, 20‌08, and what he said has always stuck with me:

It's been a long time coming, but toni‌ght, because of what we did on this date in this election at this defining moment, change has come to America.

And change did. Together with President Obama, we passed the Affordable Care Act, which reduced health care spending by $2.3 trillion since 2010 and covered nearly 20 million people -- many for the first time. That fight was the result of a hundred years of struggle to ensure that everyone in America has access to quality, affordable health care -- and it's become a vital part of the solution for America's health care future.

Despite that progress, Republicans and President Trump are still doing everything they can to stand in our way. But last week, open enrollment started up again, and people need to know that they can still find affordable, quality coverage if they need it:

Go to healthcare.gov to see your coverage options, or help a friend, family member, or neighbor get enrolled if they need help -- it makes a huge difference, and we can keep building on our progress together.

Open enrollment runs this year from Nove‌mber 1 to Dec‌ember 15, and rates are going to stay flat or even get lower this year. That's because of the hard work we've done together to defend the Affordable Care Act.

There's more to do, but this is always an incredible victory -- access to quality, affordable care for the millions who never had it before. That's our progress. Let's keep fighting for it.

Sincerely,

Chuck Schumer
