John,
Martin Luther King Jr. told us, “The time is always right to do what is right.”
As we reflect today on Dr. King's commitment to freedom and justice, we must honor his legacy through action.
Right now, that means doing everything in our power to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and the Freedom to Vote Act to strengthen voter protections and stop states from disenfranchising marginalized communities through voter purging, intimidation, gerrymandering, and more.
It also means working to realize Dr. King's dream of economic justice. We're at a critical moment in the fight for jobs, fair wages and working conditions, health care, housing, education, and human rights for all – we cannot allow complacency, fear, or false division to stop us from moving forward.
The work of fully achieving Dr. King's vision has yet to be completed. Today, we must recommit to finishing that work.
