Friends, The impact and reach of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and legacy remains global and it’s essential we take today to recognize that. He empowered people, lead movements, and championed civil rights issues to make huge strides for equality in America. There is a tendency to ignore the real breadth and intersectionality of Dr. King’s work, but today, I would like to highlight some of the key things we are still fighting for in this country. Dr. King knew that to live in a peaceful and prosperous world, economic justice must be won and workers must be respected. We're still fighting for a fair economy and working Americans are ignored and devalued. We must continue Dr. King’s work and go further on the march toward progress together. We must keep fighting for racial equality and justice, and we must stand in solidarity with one another against those who wish to disenfranchise people of color and disempower workers.
