[link removed] [[link removed]]The night before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, he spoke to a group of striking Memphis sanitation workers. He urged them to keep up the strike, to keep fighting for a better tomorrow.
Martin Luther King Jr. did not live to see the end of that strike. But his work and his commitment to the ideals of justice and equality are still alive today.
Right now, sanitation workers in Chula Vista are striking for better pay and working conditions.
I stand with them, just as I stand with all frontline workers who want livable wages and dignity in their work.
Today reminded us that the fight for racial equality, worker's rights, and environmental justice is not a new one. But it is one ALWAYS worth waging. In the spirit of Dr. King's struggle, l et's make a more just California together.
