Friend,

By now, most of us know about the racist, despicable rally led by Donald Trump last night.

It's an honor to be an American citizen, whether that's through the stroke of geographic luck or because we chose to pledge allegiance, like Representative Ilhan Omar did. Our citizenship carries immense responsibility. We all must protect the treasured values of our nation. And the most treasured thing we have is building a new nation every day with people from around the world. We should -- we must -- continue that tradition.

This is a moment when every American must step up and defend the values our nation was founded upon. So I am asking: Make a donation to Representative Ilhan Omar's re-election campaign. Together, we will reject Trump's politics of fear and hate.

Look, at this point, after his first ugly campaign -- after Charlottesville -- it's hard to expect anything else from Donald Trump. We should not only be enraged at Donald Trump's un-American behavior, but we should also be furious at the Republican senators and representatives whose deafening silence enables him. They are not defending the values they swore to protect -- they are cowering in fear.

Our nation, our values, are at stake under Trump's unrelenting assault. I'm going to fight for our true American values every day. And I hope you'll join me.
