John,

This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we are at a crossroads in America. We have the opportunity of a lifetime to pass legislation that will protect our democracy and make our election process more equitable for all Americans. But we won’t be able to get it done unless we take his work as inspiration and fight arm-in-arm.

One of the things Martin Luther King Jr. understood better than anyone was the power of coalition building. He brought together communities, saw past differences of background and skin tone to shared goals of fighting for equality and uplifting all working people. Today, we have a lot of work ahead of us, and I know that I cannot do it alone.

There is no better way to honor Dr. King's strength, conviction, and tireless work for equality than by continuing what he started. But we must do it together.

Thank you for fighting by my side,
Chuy
