Dear John, 

The 2022 General Assembly is in full swing and we need you to ensure that Virginia remains safe for LGBTQ people and their families. Unfortunately, several bills have been introduced that would put transgender youth in harm's way and that would weaken our hard-fought nondiscrimination protections in the Virginia Values Act. But it's not just bad bills that we're fighting against - there are also a handful of bills that we're fighting for - ones that would help to protect LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness and that would remove the ban on marriage equality from our state constitution. 

We need your help. We need you to contact your legislators and ask them to stand with us. Click the link below to let them know which bills to support and which bills to oppose. Together, we can move LGBTQ equality forward, not backward.

 

Lunch & Lobby 

We know that many Virginians are worried about the future of LGBTQ equality in our Commonwealth. But, rest assured, we aren’t backing down!

Even with a less friendly House of Delegates, the Senate remains unchanged. We will work with the Senate's pro-equality majority to act as a crucial back stop against harmful legislation and efforts to weaken our hard-earned wins passed during the last two years. And, we'll need your help to make that happen.

Unfortunately, due to the rising Covid-19 cases, we won't be able to host an in-person lobby day. So instead, plan to join us for a virtual Lunch & Lobby event on Tuesday, January 25th from 12:00-1:00pm. This will be a great opportunity for you to learn more about the bills that we're following, plus we'll share ways to make your voice heard.

We know that it can sometimes be confusing to follow all of the bills that we're advocating for and against during the legislative session. Not only are there a lot of bills to track, but the process moves very swiftly, and it can be easy to miss where a bill is on its journey to become law. 

That's why we've created a bill tracker so that you know exactly where bills are, which makes it easier for you to know when and how to share your voice and get involved. 

This session, you'll notice that there are several bills that would help to move LGBTQ equality forward, but unfortunately there are even more bills that would undermine the protections we have fought so hard to make a reality.
