All of us have been impacted by the pandemic in one way or another, friend.
From losing a loved one to the virus, to facing job insecurity and struggling to pay rent or put food on the table, it’s been an incredibly difficult two years for many of us that we are still trying to process and recover from.
And for those living while undocumented, a whole new set of anxieties arose at the onset of the pandemic as well. A majority of respondents to United We Dream’s national survey reported negative impacts to their mental health — even more so than their physical health or financial situation.
With job loss, came the realistic possibility of losing a visa connected to it. Getting sick and checking into a hospital exposed you to being picked up and detained by ICE.
Travel restrictions and border lockdowns made visiting loved ones impossible for undocumented families or those with mixed immigration statuses.
Everything that has to do with COVID has an immigration component to it. That’s life when you’re living while undocumented. And that’s why we need permanent protections.
United We Dream Action is fighting for these permanent protections by putting pressure on elected Democrats to deliver on their promises — but we need your support to help us keep up the fight.
Please, donate $10 or more today to help UWDA fight for permanent protections and lift up millions of undocumented people who are living under the constant fear of detention and deportation.
