John,

Today, we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and honor a man who inspired generations of Americans to build a more just and equitable society for everyone.

Dr. King dreamt of a better world for our children to grow up in. He fought to dismantle systemic racism. He challenged us to meet fear and hatred with hope and kindness. He recognized the power of solidarity and brought people together. 

There is still so much work ahead of us to realize Dr. King’s dream and eliminate the inequities that have plagued our state and our country for far too long.

Today and every day, let us heed the lessons of Dr. King and recommit ourselves to the march towards justice.
