John,
It’s been nearly 60 years since Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech and our fight for justice and equality continues.
Just in the last year, 19 states have enacted 34 voter suppression laws―targeting Black and brown communities.[1] This brazen attack on our democracy is designed to silence voters and eliminate accountability in Washington so that lawmakers can keep serving corporate interests and dark money groups instead of “we the people.”
The Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act will ensure that voters can safely and freely cast their ballots, stop partisan gerrymandering, and limit the influence of dark money in politics so that billionaires can’t buy elections.
Join Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund and our national allies and demand the U.S. Senate pass critical voting rights protections―and abolish the filibuster to do it.
As Dr. King said:[2]
“Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.”
With the Senate voting tomorrow, now is the time to make our voices heard. Sign the petition today >>
Thank you for fighting for a future that includes all of us.
