Honoring Dr. King through our work
|
Team, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had a profound impact on our country.
One of the causes he fought so passionately for was voting rights. It is because of Dr. King’s efforts that the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965 was signed into law.
Unfortunately, Dr. King’s voting rights work still continues to this day, decades later, as communities of color continue to be disenfranchised at the polls.
Today, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we honor Dr. King’s memory by continuing his efforts to make voting accessible for everyone.
Through year-round organizing, we are reaching all of Arizona’s communities – Black, white, Native, and more – and encouraging voter registration and participation.
Hopefully, one day, we can say that the fight for equal voting rights is over. Until then, we will continue Dr. King’s work.
Sincerely,
Arizona Democrats
