Hello Somebody!

In 2016, I participated in a roundtable discussion on the legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders, Dr. Cornel West, and my good friend Michael Render (Killer Mike).

It’s a powerful discussion, and one that is very much still relevant today. We talk about Dr. King’s life, his work with the poor people’s movement, and the legacy of his activism — from ending racial & economic injustice to fighting militarism and corporate greed.

One thing we get at in the discussion that I think is important to emphasize is that while Dr. King was a great man and humanitarian, he was not an isolated icon. He was part of a movement and a tradition of organizing and resistance that stretches back hundreds of years and continues to this day.

He understood that change never starts with the powerful, coming from the top on down. It always comes from the bottom on up, when a group of people are prepared to come together and fight for justice.

Please watch the Legacy of MLK roundtable with me, Senator Bernie Sanders, Dr. Cornel West, and Michael Render (Killer Mike). Today especially, we all have a lot to learn from Dr. King’s life and legacy of activism. [[link removed]]

Thank you,

Nina Turner
