John —
Today our nation comes together to celebrate the life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and his legacy of fighting for equality. His fight was not only brave and just, but true to the idea that "...all men are created equal..." Beyond this, he was a beacon of peace in a time otherwise torn by violence and choas. Losing him so young has set our democracy back a great deal, the change he set out to create is not complete.
Have no doubt, the struggle he led against has not bean defeated. As the Senate fight for the passage of the For the People Act continues, we must remember Dr. King's "Give us the Ballot" speech of 1957 and keep pressure on our elected officials to pass this important legislation by any means necessary.
Our democracy only works if all are represented fairly and equally. If only a few have a voice then many will be forgotten. Use this day to reflect and think about the good fight that needs to continue and remember that strength comes from unity. Our only way forward is to work together.
Thanks for your support,
Tim Alexander
