John —
Today we honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and reflect on his ideas and activism.
His tireless work — on everything from ending poverty, to creating true equality in public education, to ensuring voting rights for Black Americans — has impacted generations, and continues to inspire me as a lawmaker.
We are facing a difficult and divisive time in America, but it’s people like Martin Luther King Jr. who give me hope that we possess the power to be our own deliverance, and make bold progressive change for the social good of the country.
With these ideas in mind, I recommit to Dr. King’s vision for total political enfranchisement and voting freedom. And I invite you, John, to reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy with me.
