John,

Today, on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. King — not just by remembering his courageous fight for civil rights, but by continuing the vital work to uphold and expand those rights. And when it comes to the right to vote, this work is as critical as it’s ever been.

After record voter turnout drove historic victories for Democrats in 2020, Republican lawmakers have introduced 440 horrific voter-suppression bills across 49 states — enacting strict voter ID laws, purging voter rolls and shutting down polling locations.

The GOP midterm elections strategy is clear: to stop people from voting.

No American should ever be denied their right to be heard at the ballot box. Not now. Not ever. We cannot sit back and allow Republicans to destroy our democracy for their own political gains.

That’s why I’m fighting in the Senate to get rid of the filibuster so Democrats can pass crucial legislation to protect voting rights. With the slimmest possible majority, we need all 50 votes to get this done – and that's going to take a massive surge in grassroots pressure. So I’m counting on 20,000 members of this team to stand with me by signing my petition before midnight tonight:

Please sign on to join me in the fight to get rid of the filibuster and protect the right to vote for all. It’s going to take all of us banding together and raising our voices to get this done →

Today of all days, as we celebrate Dr. King’s courageous fight for voting rights, we must speak out with one voice — as loudly as we can — in the continued fight to uphold our democracy.

Thank you for adding yours,

Kirsten
