Will you fight to defend the sacred right to vote that Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, and generations of civil rights leaders fought for?

Hello,

One year ago, Kamala Harris became the first Black woman to serve as Vice President.

It was a momentous day for our Nation, but in the year since, state legislatures reacted by enacting a flurry of new laws that make it harder to vote.

Every eligible American deserves the right to vote and be heard. It's a right that civil rights leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were willing to give their lives for, and a right that is under attack right now.

Today, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I'm renewing my call for the Senate to immediately pass legislation to defend your voting and civil rights.

Will you fight to defend the sacred right to vote that Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, and generations of civil rights leaders fought for? Join me in supporting the Freedom to Vote Act this Martin Luther King Jr. day.

In cities across the nation, activists are marking this day by marching for voting rights.

As Arndrea Waters King, the wife of Martin Luther King III said, "If we're really talking about celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., voting rights was a cornerstone of his legacy…we cannot simply in good faith celebrate him or celebrate that legacy with this current attack on access to the ballot box."

The right to vote is the foundation of our democracy. Whether you marched for it a generation ago, whether you're marching today, or whether you're spending the day honoring those like Martin Luther King Jr. who shed their blood for the right to vote, now is the time for you to act.

Will you join me in supporting the Freedom to Vote Act today? Add your name now.

Thank you for all that you do,

Bob Casey
