Team,

On this day of remembrance and commemoration, I cannot help but reflect that so much of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy is still being realized today.

In far too many states across the country, we’re seeing the right to vote under attack, undermining our democracy. Simultaneously, we have the opportunity to pass monumental voting rights protections in the Senate to defend our democracy and Dr. King’s legacy.

Dr. King fought and died for our equal rights throughout his life, especially those to the ballot box. And I cannot think of a better way to honor Dr. King than expanding and protecting voting rights across the county.

We must all take action and continue Dr. King’s movement for justice, equality, and change, especially now as our country’s future for voting rights hangs in the balance. Whether it is passing voting rights in the U.S. Senate or electing democracy defenders on the state and local levels, we can all do our part to work towards justice, equity, and prosperity for all.
