Friends,
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and I will be spending the day in service, and reflecting on his commitment to improving this country.
Dr. King was instrumental in advancing the voting rights movement throughout the South and the entire country. His brave, nonviolent persistence helped bring the Voting Rights Act to Congress nearly 60 years ago.
His hard work, along with the work of others in the Civil Rights Movement, increased access to the ballot box for African Americans and other marginalized groups.
Now, our voting rights are again under attack. When we win in November, I promise to honor Dr. King’s legacy by supporting the John Lewis Voting Rights Act in the House.
Please join me today in reflecting on Dr. King’s legacy and furthering his work for our country.
Brad
