Team,
Today we honor the legacy of the greatest American dreamer, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dr. King has been an inspiration to me since I was a young woman. All these years later, I aspire to uphold his Dream in the halls of Congress.
Dr. King was not only a gifted orator and a champion of human rights. He was also a deeply political advocate for change.
Because of his shining example, we have made progress in this nation. But, some battles of his time hold over to ours. Inspired by his perseverance, we must push forward to achieve a perfect and more equitable union.
As he poignantly said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’”
On this day, let us come together and renew our commitment to justice, equity, and the service of all our brethren.
In service,
-- Marcy Kaptur
