Friends –

As our democracy faces partisan attacks, I find myself reflecting more and more on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy.

Dr. King spent his life fighting for a more perfect union, and his unshakeable commitment to non-violent action has inspired generations of Americans.

Today, more than ever before, we must recommit ourselves to the example set by Dr. King as we continue to strengthen racial justice in America.

While we as a country have made great strides, there is still much work to be done to ensure that all people are fully included in our society, our economy, and our democracy. Last month, I delivered a speech on the Senate floor calling for a simple majority vote on legislation related to fundamental issues of our democracy.

The Senate must take action to protect the right to vote, and to ensure free, fair, and impartially administered elections.

If you agree, please join me in this fight by adding your name in support of protecting our democracy and the right to vote. [[link removed]]

Across the country, we are seeing partisan politicians attempt to throw out the votes and silence the voices of those with whom they disagree. These efforts threaten the integrity of our election system – and they are disproportionately impacting communities of color.

As we continue our work toward creating a more perfect union, Dr. King's legacy shapes our continued efforts. The fight to save our democracy cannot wait. We must pass legislation to protect our most fundamental right.

Please add your name today if you support protecting our democracy and defending the right to vote. [[link removed]]

Thank you for being a part of my team. I'm so grateful for your support.

With every good wish,
Maggie Hassan
