Friend, today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a man who dedicated his life to creating a more just and equitable country for all Americans. While we've made progress in recent decades, our country is a long way away from the one Dr. King envisioned – and Republicans are pushing us in the wrong direction with a nationwide assault on voting rights.

Since losing the White House and the Senate, GOP lawmakers have introduced more than 440 voter suppression bills in 49 states as part of their plan to steal the Senate majority this year – and it's no mistake that these laws will disproportionately affect low-income communities of color.

Voting is one of the most important pillars of a free democracy. We cannot sit idly by and allow this basic right to be destroyed before our eyes. That's why I'm fighting with everything I have to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. This fight will be tough, so I'm counting on you to join me and show your support for this monumental bill, friend.
