John,
Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his vision to create a country committed to justice, equality, and fairness for all people.
In 1964, 10,000 Kentuckians marched alongside Dr. King in Frankfort, calling for an end to discrimination and segregation in our Commonwealth. That march helped lead to Kentucky signing the first state civil rights act in the South.
We've come a long way since then in the fight for civil rights, but there is still so much more to do. As Governor, I'm committed to building a more equitable and fair Commonwealth for every Kentuckian.
This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we as Kentuckians must come together and remember that we can overcome our divisions. We have much more in common than that which divides us.
Let us never lose sight of the work we must do to honor Dr. King's vision for a better future.
Thank you,
Andy
