SPUC's General Election 2019 campaign is underway. The aim of the campaign is to help elect MPs who will defend the right to life of unborn children and other vulnerable people.
Dear SPUC supporter,
As we go into the election on 12 December, we are facing one of the biggest threats to unborn babies since 1967. A horrific abortion regime has now been imposed on Northern Ireland by Parliament in Westminster following the failure to restore the devolved Government in Stormont by 21 October. As a result, England and Wales could quickly see abortion decriminalised, and Scotland would likely follow suit – leading to more babies losing their lives and more women hurt.
At the other end of life, there are MPs determined to bring forward a bill to legalise assisted suicide.
I appreciate that there is not much time before the election, but whatever you can do, however large or small, will make a difference.
1. Find out candidates' views on abortion and assisted suicide
The most important thing is to find out the voting intentions of candidates in your constituency. At this General Election, SPUC is focusing on two key issues which are a major threat to unborn babies and to vulnerable people:
- Abortion decriminalisation
- Assisted suicide
The following materials are available to download on the SPUC website. You can also use the form on the website to order paper copies or email [email protected].
- SPUC Briefing –What you can do to defend human life in the 2019 General Election. This briefing will help you with questioning the parliamentary candidates in your constituency. Also in this briefing are key points on abortion decriminalisation and assisted suicide.
- MPs’ voting record - This booklet contains how all sitting MPs voted on three key bills. Information regarding MPs not standing again was accurate at the time of going to print
- Questions to put to candidates. This sheet gives you two questions to put to the candidates standing for election in your constituency
2. Give out “Value your vote” leaflets
We have a "Value your Vote" leaflet available for distribution door-to-door, at churches and elsewhere. Use the form on the website to order as many copies as you need, or email [email protected]
We may be able to supply you with leaflets for local distribution featuring the responses of the candidates in your constituency. Please call Alithea Williams on 020 7820 3121 or e-mail [email protected] to discuss this further.
Yours sincerely,
Antonia Tully
