In 2020, Democrats won the House, the Senate, and the Presidency. In 2021, Republicans across the country introduced hundreds of bills in every level of government, trying to suppress our vote ahead of the 2022 election. The GOP is working to close polling locations, purge voter rolls, limit early and mail-in voting, and gerrymander districts to limit the power of communities of color.
In the House, leaders who Truth to Power supported in 2020 helped pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act, two pieces of voting rights legislation that would secure our elections and expand access to the ballot, no matter your political party or ZIP code. Unfortunately, this voting rights legislation is stalled in the Senate.
Those working to strip our right to vote are deliberately standing in the way of democracy. We urgently need to elect leaders willing to fight for our right to vote, and for countless other freedoms being threatened by Republicans every day.
