“What would a post-nuclear Senate look like? I assure you it would not be more efficient or more productive. I personally guarantee it.”
— Mitch McConnell

Team — Mitch McConnell is throwing a temper tantrum.

On Tuesday, the minority leader took to the Senate floor to shake his fists and stomp his feet as Democrats considered changes to Senate rules in order to pass crucial voting rights legislation unanimously opposed by the Republican party.

Somebody should tell Mitch that the right to vote is perhaps the most fundamental way for Americans to make their voices heard. Maybe Democrats wouldn’t be in this position if Republicans would simply protect and honor that right in the first place.

Now, remember that Mitch himself changed the rules of the filibuster back in 2017 by invoking the “nuclear” option of allowing a simple majority - the same option he is now rebuking - to confirm Trump-appointed Supreme Court Justice, Neil Gorsuch.

I knew Mitch McConnell was a hypocrite, but this is next-level.

Now that the GOP might lose its veto power over the Senate, the minority leader is throwing a fit. He’s threatening to gum up the operations of the Senate and, in his own words, hold all Senate business hostage “in ways that are more inconvenient for the majority and this White House than what anybody has seen in living memory.”

John, we cannot allow GOP hypocrites like McConnell to win at the ballot box in November. They are doing everything they can to rig the election in their favor — from attacking voting rights to gerrymandering — and they must be stopped.

On Thursday, the House passed the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. Along with my Democratic House colleagues, we are doing everything in our power to keep anti-democratic hypocrites like Mitch McConnell in the minority — both in the House and the Senate.

But we can’t do this without the support of the millions of Americans who have our backs, John. We need grassroots donors like you to support us. Will you make a contribution of whatever you can afford right now to stop Mitch McConnell and his GOP cronies?
