John,
We’re just one month out from the next nationwide climate strikes! On December 6th, young people across the country will walk out of school and work and take over the offices of their local politicians to demand they champion a Green New Deal.
This is a critical time for us to strike because 2020 primary season is just about to heat up. That means all the candidates -- from President down to state Representative -- are watching closely to see what voters care about. The issues that make headlines right now could determine what candidates decide to put at the center of their campaigns.
By taking over politicians’ offices across the country, we can take over the election news cycle ahead of the primaries and show that any candidate who wants to earn our generation’s support must get serious about championing the Green New Deal.
On December 6th, we’re going to strike fear into the hearts of politicians up for election in 2020, and make sure they know that our generation is prepared to push anyone who won’t champion the Green New Deal out of office.
But we’re also going to be doing something bigger than any one politician or election -- we’re going to continue the task of becoming a movement that’s big and powerful enough to completely transform politics in this country. Because with every strike, we train thousands of new leaders, we spread our movement where it hasn’t gone before, and we send a message that we’re prepared to keep fighting for a Green New Deal all the way to election day 2020 and beyond.
