Dear John,

Just last week, the Keystone I Pipeline spilled nearly 400,000 gallons of oil in
North Dakota. This was its second oil spill in two years. Big Oil is destroying
our environment without consequence.

We need to rein in the fossil fuel industry to protect our communities and the
climate. And to do this, we need a Green New Deal that includes a phase-out of
all fossil fuels like the tar sands oil that Keystone I spilled.

Now, you have an opportunity to push Congress to do that. The House Select
Committee on the Climate Crisis is seeking public input on a plan to prevent
climate chaos. But the Committee is led by Rep. Kathy Castor, who is dangerously
close to corporate democrats that side with the industry over the American
people, like Nancy Pelosi. We need you to make sure the Committee’s plan
includes real climate solutions, not half-measures!

Send your comment: Demand the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis adopt bold
policies to fight the climate catastrophe!

The House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis was created to lead the
transition to clean energy and reach a net carbon pollution of zero before 2050.
Unfortunately, Committee Chair Castor has a history of siding with corporate
democrats rather than pushing for ambitious climate action.

But now you have the unusual opportunity to pressure Rep. Castor to protect our
planet by siding with the United States people, not Nancy Pelosi. The fossil
fuel industry will surely weigh in through this process, so your input is
crucial. The Committee will weigh your words against the demands of Big Oil as
they draft a resolution. It’s up to you to stand up for our planet and the
people most effected by climate change.

This is your chance to tell the Committee to support a Green New Deal that
creates a real solution to the climate catastrophe. One that tackles injustice
and rising inequity while upholding Indigenous rights. A Green New Deal that
includes a national jobs guarantee, decarbonizes transportation, and phases out
fossil fuels. And we need it before it’s too late.

Make your voice heard: Tell the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis you
demand a Green New Deal!

The recent Keystone I spill shows what happens when the fossil fuel industry is
permitted to pollute the planet. The spill will damage the environment. And the
community of Edinburg, just three miles away, will spend years cleaning up.

Our extractive economy isn’t working for people or the planet. We need an
immediate shift to bold climate solutions like a Green New Deal. But
Representative Castor needs a push to protect our future. We need you to hold
her, and other leaders like her, accountable.

Your voice matters, John. Your elected officials want
to hear from you. Send your comment today and let them know it’s time to enact
bold policy on climate change.

Tell Representative Castor she needs to act NOW to avert climate catastrophe!
