John — what do you give to the man leading the gun lobby's most powerful organization?
Wayne LaPierre, the NRA's Chief Executive, blamed the Sandy Hook school shooting tragedy on video games,1 and, in the wake of the 2018 mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, called for more guns in schools.2
He's led the NRA from an organization once focused on gun safety and training into an extremist lobbying group opposing popular and effective laws like background checks on all gun sales. It is no exaggeration to say that the NRA's decades long stranglehold on national politics has led to more gun violence and more tragedies.
So, we can't let the NRA Chief Executive's 70th birthday go unnoticed. How about chipping in $7 to the Everytown Victory Fund to help us beat Wayne and the NRA in the 2020 elections. That's one dollar for every decade.
Thanks for all you do,
Nick Suplina
