Join hundreds of people who have committed to move their bodies for 15 minutes every day through February 18.
Hi Supporter,
This week kicks off the 1.5 Degree Challenge. So far, 416 people have committed to move their bodies for 15 minutes every day through February 18. Will you join this nationwide challenge?
We know that in the face of surging COVID, threats to our democracy, and everything else you are holding together these days, it's hard to know what to do. But just starting -- joining our community, doing something for 15 minutes a day, sharing your passion with friends and family -- it makes a difference.
Why 1.5? A 1.5 degrees Celsius (or a 2.7°F) rise in average global temperatures is the threshold for climate catastrophe. Right now we’re at 1.2. We must keep global temperature increases (from pre-industrial levels) under 1.5 degrees Celsius in order to prevent the worst impacts, from extreme weather to food scarcity and beyond.
2022 is a crucial year for us to come together for the future health of our planet and generations to come. We must demand policy change, modify our daily habits, and address inequities, like access to clean water and air, that impact marginalized communities.
Your $35 registration donation will fund the Sierra Club's initiatives like retiring coal plants, moving away from fossil fuels, and transitioning to clean energy, like solar and wind, in an equitable and just way.
It takes about 3 minutes to register, 1 minute to upload your photo on your fundraising page, and we have the tools to help you raise money. So, 5 minutes of your time can make a huge impact. Will you sign up today?
Plus, when you share this challenge with your friends and family, you’re passing on the important message that we must take action now. You can even forward this email to a friend to join you!
When you join, you'll get an invitation to the 1.5 Challenge Facebook Group for community support, a calendar where you can track and plan your activity, and more information on how to be proactive in the climate crisis.
