John,
This is bad news. Comcast just hired a lobbyist in Arizona with one mission: to stop net neutrality champion Gigi Sohn from getting confirmed to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).1
Telecom industry insiders have openly admitted that they’re doing everything they can to stall and delay the FCC confirmation process, to prevent the agency from reversing terrible policies enacted by disgraced chairman Ajit Pai.2
We’ll never be able to outspend Big Telecom when it comes to lobbying. But we’re driving phone calls, generating media attention, and fighting tooth and nail to fix the FCC and restore net neutrality. This fight will play out over the next several months. Will you become a monthly donor today?
HELP RESTORE NET NEUTRALITY
Comcast’s plan in Arizona couldn’t be more obvious: they’re spending big money on lobbyists to pressure Senator Kyrsten Sinema (who has betrayed her constituents on the issue of net neutrality in the past) to vote against confirming Gigi Sohn to the FCC.
But so far, Sinema hasn’t voted against any other of the administration’s nominees. As long as we can keep the pressure on, we have the votes we need to get the FCC back up and running so they can stop companies like Comcast and Verizon from scamming consumers, throttling Internet speeds, and other greedy shenanigans.
We’ve already generated tens of thousands of messages to lawmakers through our campaign at BattleForTheNet.com, and our efforts are being noticed by the press and Senate staffers. But now we need to turn the volume up to demand an FCC confirmation vote before time runs out.
All of this work costs money. Will you become a monthly donor to support our efforts to restore net neutrality and defend your basic rights in the digital age?
Thanks for all you do,
-Evan at Fight for the Future
