Pro-democracy senators are working to pass the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act -- legislation that combines the voting rights protections and redistricting reforms we’ve been fighting for!

If this bill is passed, it would END partisan gerrymandering for the maps that decide our congressional district lines -- by setting a nationwide standard for determining if a map is gerrymandered to favor one party.

Take a look at this map. These are states where Republicans have proposed (or passed!) congressional maps that would fail this fairness test. Voters would be able to challenge all these maps in court if we pass the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act.

Some of these states have local rules that ban partisan gerrymandering -- it’s how voters in Ohio and North Carolina were able to challenge their gerrymandered maps!

But until EVERY state has the same standards outlawing gerrymandering, the congressional redistricting process can’t truly be fair.

Here are three ways you can help:
☎️ Call your senators and demand action (this is probably the most impactful today)

🖊 Sign our voting rights petition to send Congress a message

💸 Donate a few dollars to help AOTL keep fighting for fair maps and voting rights
