Ohio Democrats, Republicans' attempts at drawing legislative maps in their favor has been temporarily halted. Earlier this week the Ohio Supreme Court ruled that the preliminary map of Ohio's legislative districts was unconstitutional.
The maps Ohio Republicans presented would have disenfranchised voters across the state -- especially Black and brown voters -- and they've even admitted that they didn't take racial demographics or the Voting Rights Act into account when drawing their maps.
This is a huge win for us as the redistricting commission reconvenes to redraw the maps. But we have to make sure we keep up the pressure to ensure the new maps are fair for every voter. It won't be easy, Republicans have plenty of tricks up their sleeves to keep the maps leaning in their favor.
We're fighting back and demanding the redistricting commission commits to creating fair maps, but we need your help.
