There’s no overstating the amount of work we need to get done. Extreme weather, climate-related disasters, and steadily rising temperatures will continue to ravage our public lands and communities if we don’t act. We need to move forward by passing the Build Back Better Act. I’m working hard each day to do just that. It’s still our best shot at curbing emissions through efforts like widespread, affordable electrification of homes and creating climate jobs — measures I’ve fought to include in this bill from day one. We’re also at a crossroads when it comes to voting rights. Republican-controlled legislatures across the country are passing laws to restrict access to the ballot box and vote-by-mail. Our democracy is at stake and it’s more important than ever that we change the filibuster rules and pass voting rights protections at the federal level. Elections at the local and state levels are coming up, too. We need to make sure that strong Democratic leaders stay in charge in New Mexico. And we must pass a ballot initiative that will allow New Mexico to invest in early childhood education. It would be a game changer for our economy, children, families, and future. As you can see, there’s a lot at stake here. We have the ability to make this change happen — but only if we organize and fight for it. That’s why it’s so important we hit each and every fundraising goal this year.
