Dear team, In case you haven’t guessed, I’m passionate about the Build Back Better Act we passed in Congress last year. It’s the transformative change our country needs today. I’m proud to have helped lead the work in the House of Representatives to pass Build Back Better. Democrats across the ideological spectrum recognized the lasting impact and benefits of Build Back Better for all Americans. That’s why I’m disappointed the bill we passed in the House is now stalled in the Senate. It’s also why I will do whatever it takes to get it passed and to President Biden for his signature. What is being lost in the Senate’s foot-dragging is how the Build Back Better Act sets our communities up for future success. It provides us with the resources and incentives to address climate change and extreme weather events, particularly in Black and brown communities that, all too often, endure these disasters. Build Back Better prepares us for an uplifting future by creating good-paying jobs in sectors like food service, hospitality, tourism, child care, and education. Sectors that employ many who live in our most vulnerable communities. Here’s the bottom line, team. The Build Back Better Act creates a pathway forward for thriving communities — and that’s worth the fight.
Thank you for standing with me, – Yvette D. Clarke
