Today, the U.S. Supreme Court announced it will hear oral argument in Coach Joe Kennedy’s case.
This is major development and exciting news. First Liberty has fought for Coach Kennedy through a six-year legal battle after the Bremerton, Washington school district fired him for silently praying on the football field.
As a First Liberty supporter, you—and people of faith across our country—should be very encouraged. This is a historic opportunity to impact the future of religious liberty.
By agreeing to take this case, the Court will have an opportunity to protect the right of every American to live out their faith, including praying in public, without the fear of punishment. The outcome could restore the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment and strike a serious blow against a bad legal precedent that’s harmed religious liberty for more than 30 years.
We’re looking forward to presenting Coach’s case to the justices. We will be doing everything in our power to get the Court to affirm his constitutional right to pray publicly and the rights of all Americans. We’re very hopeful that we can deliver a final victory.
Thank you for supporting First Liberty and helping us reach this important milestone. Your ongoing prayers and financial support are the reason why we can keep fighting on behalf of courageous Americans like Coach Kennedy.
The next several months will be incredibly busy. There’s a great deal of preparation ahead, and your generous gifts will make a tremendous difference in this final phase.
We’d like to ask you to please continue supporting First Liberty. By giving today, you’ll help ensure our legal team and our arguments are razor-sharp when we go before the justices.
