Disappointed doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel,
John.

Democrats control the House, Senate, and White House because of the
courage, fierce organizing, and hope of millions of Americans. We
organized for years to make these victories possible because our
communities are aching for a government that centers the needs of everyday
people in policy.

Here’s the problem we face now: The progressive change we’ve been working
toward is being blocked by the Jim Crow filibuster. Yesterday, Kyrsten
Sinema made a speech on the Senate floor reaffirming her stance that she
still supports the filibuster. Her vote — along with every other
conservative Democrat and Senate Republican that supports the filibuster —
is blocking a whole slate of urgently needed legislation including the
John Lewis Voting Rights Act.

As long as they refuse to end the filibuster — we can’t pass the policies
we’re pushing for that would save lives. Cori has a simple message for
everyone who refuses to end the filibuster: Join us in saving lives or get
out of our way.

avenue to pass bold legislation that meets the needs of everyday Americans
without ending the filibuster.

Everything in our progressive agenda from passing a minimum wage of at
least $15, voting rights, climate and environmental justice, gun violence
prevention, immigration reform, worker protections, and transforming our
criminal-legal system — hinges on ending the filibuster.

We must end the gridlock that has become common practice in Washington and
govern boldly and transformatively to improve the lives of millions of
people, children, and families all across the country. For too many of our
communities, our very survival is at stake.
