Team, When Georgia went blue in the 2020 presidential election, it came as a shock to Republicans, and in true GOP fashion, they coordinated a nationwide assault on voting rights to ensure historically conservative-leaning states like Georgia never went blue again. But Future Forum Democrats in the House fought back. Legislation such as the John Lewis Voting Rights Act passed the House last year, and we urge the Senate to pass this democracy- saving bill before the midterm election. If this sounds urgent, it’s because it is very urgent. If Republicans take back the House this year, they will never work with the Senate or President Biden to protect the ballot box. It simply doesn’t align with their values.
While Republicans continue to pass voter suppression bills, and continue to push Trump’s election lie, President Biden and Vice President Harris were in Atlanta this week fighting back against these attacks in what many call ground zero when it comes to voting rights. After seeing Georgia go blue, one of the efforts by Republicans to suppress the vote in Fulton County, home of Atlanta, was to minimize the amount of ballot drop-off boxes from 38 to just 8. Thank you, Future Forum HQ
