Friends –

This week, I addressed the City of Long Beach at our State of the City address. My role as Mayor of Long Beach has helped to illuminate why I decided to run for Congress.

Right now, our state and our country are facing an uphill battle. From the worst public health crisis in history, the supply chain crisis, homelessness, economic recovery and more – we need leaders to step up and make change for the common good.

Early on in this pandemic, the White House and the President called Long Beach a national model for Covid-19 testing and vaccinations. Long Beach was the first city to vaccinate public school teachers and educators, the first to vaccinate food workers, and the first to vaccinate dock workers. Today, more than 85% of all adults in Long Beach are vaccinated and 99% of our seniors are also vaccinated.

The strength of our health recovery is driving our economic recovery. The Covid-19 pandemic is affecting every avenue in our lives. Due to high vaccination rates, unemployment continues to drop and businesses are hiring back workers lost during the pandemic.

I lost my mother to Covid-19. And I am doing everything I can to make sure that families in my community do not have to suffer more heart-wrenching losses due to this terrible illness.

My mother helped to inspire me to run for Congress to keep California families safe. In Congress, I am going to work to expand healthcare especially in regard to the Covid-19 crisis.

I’m extremely grateful for your support. As Mayor of Long Beach, I know what it takes to keep progress going in our community. And I will continue that progress in the House of Representatives.

California is strong because our people are strong. Our country will recover because communities like Long Beach are leading the way. We have an opportunity to turn the page on a dark moment in our history. Communities like ours continue to show this nation how it’s done. Let’s go out and do the most good.

Thank you for being part of our fight to protect families, protect the American dream, and protect our future.

Together,

Robert
