Friend --

This week, Tablet ran a piece about how, for all of the bluster from elite Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer about "saving democracy" (🙄), the Democratic Party has been as aggressive as Trump and the Republicans at undermining fair and free elections. Especially when the Green Party is running in those elections:

It was hardly the only anti-democratic move that benefited the Democrats in 2020. Just ask the Green Party. The minor left-wing group fielded its own presidential candidate that year, a trade unionist and environmental activist named Howie Hawkins.

In state after state, Hawkins and the Green Party faced legal challenges from Democratic Party-linked operatives and attorneys trying keep him from even appearing on the ballot. With a 5-2 Democratic majority, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned a Republican judge’s ruling that Hawkins could stay on the state’s ballot, due to Hawkins’ “failure to closely follow nomination procedures,” according to CBS. When I asked Chris Robinson, a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Green Party whether they thought the Democrats were sincere in their embrace of democracy, I got a brief response: “The answer is, ‘No!’”

While I feel obligated to object to the characterization of us as "minor," the rest is spot on. And we have no reason to believe the Democrats will let up in 2022. That's why Green Party leaders, organizers and candidates across the country are preparing — right now — to fight for their right to get on the ballot.

The Green Party provides funds and support to help candidates and state parties get on the ballot, and win enough votes to assure ballot access for future candidates. But we can't do that without your help. Will you give $30 today to ensure more and more voters have a Green Party candidate to vote for on Election Day? <[link removed]>

Party suppression is a form of voter suppression. Even when we jump through all of the hoops to get on the ballot, the corporate parties change the rules or simply invent reasons to throw us off. We have faced a massive, suffocating wave of retaliation since 2016. We continue to fight back but many Greens out there are strained to their limit.

If you can sign up today as a Monthly Sustainer, to provide those Greens a bit of help over the course of the year, please do. It could make all the difference! <[link removed]>
