Let me be honest, John: The folks lining up on the Republican side to fill Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate seat should concern all of us — they've refused to say whether they’d have certified the 2020 election and undermined the science behind our efforts to fight COVID-19.

Take TV personality and Trump loyalist Dr. Oz, who has spent his TV career pushing fake diet pills and pseudoscience — and at the height of the pandemic, even spread unproven COVID-19 cures.

Make no mistake: We need a doctor to get out of this crisis — and that’s definitely not Mehmet Oz. I’m the real doctor in this race and I’ve spent more than 20 years advocating for my patients and their health care.

I have also spent the better part of the last two years leading Pennsylvania’s third largest county through COVID-19, so I know I’m prepared to go to the Senate and bring about the changes we need to keep Pennsylvanians healthy and safe.

But I’ve got to be honest — we’re up against a mountain of BS from the Oz campaign and the rest of the GOP field. Republicans are reserving millions in television ads and working to out-Trump each other. We cannot afford to fall behind and let any one of them pull ahead. The consequences are just too dangerous.
