It is the beginning of an election year, John, and I know your inboxes are going to be flooded with more and more emails, text messages, and asks for donations all competing for your attention.
I know they get a little annoying, but I'm going to be blunt – with voting rights, reproductive rights, the state of democracy, climate change, COVID-19, and so much more on the line, we cannot risk being silent. Not when this seat is one of the few toss-up districts in the country.
The truth is, it was only through the massive mobilization and organizing efforts that millions of people turned out to create the Blue Wave in 2018 and defeat Trump in 2020. We must do it again, but I have to admit I'm a little concerned.
Our campaign just isn't seeing the fundraising numbers or the unprecedented level of engagement that turned so many people out to vote the last two cycles. It's going to take an even bigger turnout to maintain Democratic control of the House and Senate -- I know we can do it, but we cannot slow down now.
I know it's easy to get burned out with the seemingly endless campaigning and nonstop electioneering. I wish it didn't have to be this way, but when Republicans continue to rely on wealthy super-donors and corporate PAC money, Democrats simply have no choice.
Our grassroots donors are the backbone of this campaign, and your time, energy, and -- yes, donations -- is how we will win. Let's make the 2022 Blue Wave even bigger, together.
