Hello John,

As we kick off the election year, I wanted to take a moment and recap some of the incredible progress that YOU helped make possible in 2021. With your continued support, we:

- Cosponsored 335 bills, resolutions, and amendments.
- Introduced a total of 31 bills, resolutions, and amendments.
- Had 7 bills passed in the House -- 2 of which were signed into law!

Here are some of the highlights:

✔ Signed into law - The Responsible Education Mitigating Options and Technical Extensions (REMOTE) Act. This bill protects education benefits for veterans when classes and other critical services were interrupted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

✔ Signed into law - The Training in High-demand Roles to Improve Veteran Employment (THRIVE) Act. When veteran unemployment skyrocketed as a result of the pandemic, the THRIVE Act strengthened the Veteran Rapid Retraining Assistance Program to connect veterans to high-wage jobs.

✔ Passed in the House - Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act. With The National Guard and Reserve being utilized at unprecedented levels, this legislation ensures that servicemembers accrue the same GI Bill benefits as their active duty counterparts when they take on jobs with the same risk.

✔ Passed in the House - HR 3665 to rename the San Diego Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center after Army CPT Jennifer M. Moreno -- a highly-decorated combat veteran from San Diego who was killed in action while on deployment in Afghanistan in October.

✔ Passed in the House - The Stop Child Hunger Act. Substance of this bill was included in the Build Back Better Act and ensured that students who receive free and reduced-price lunch at school were still able to get meals when school was not in session. This was critical during the peak of the pandemic.

✔ Passed in the House - The American Coasts and Oceans Protection Act. This bill that was incorporated into the Build Back Better Act prohibits any new leasing for oil or natural gas production along the Southern California coast.

No matter how some Republicans try to spin it, we've made significant progress for our community and the American people. Now that we are in an election year, we need to take the next step and ensure that we keep this seat blue so we can continue our work. That’s where you come in:

CA-49 is still poised to become one of the most competitive races in the country come November. Help us kick off the election year with strength by chipping in $20.22 to keep this district blue.
