In the wake of January 6th, violence is being normalized at an alarming rate. From school boards, to restaurants, to airplanes, and the non-stop copy cat attacks on the Capitol, it feels like a fight could break out anywhere, anytime.

Now, The Department of Justice is starting a domestic terrorism task force to investigate this rapid rise of violent extremism. While we celebrate this act to confront the growing violent political realities in our country, we’re deeply disturbed that it’s come to this.

The 147 and their supporters have built a movement that justifies and celebrates political violence. They continue to stoke the extremism daily by targeting government officials like Dr. Fauci, spreading The Big Lie, and openly fantasizing about what they’ll do to their political opponents if Trump comes back into power. We can’t let that happen. We need to defend our democracy, and hold everyone responsible for the January 6th insurrection so it can never happen again.
