Every day, my incredible constituents amaze me with their dedication to our city.
Today, I’m so proud of the great Americans I have the privilege to represent in Congress – Senate Majority Leader, and my good friend, Chuck Schumer.
This week, he announced that he will lead the Senate in forging ahead on voting rights legislation and changing the rules of the Senate filibuster. For far too long, it has been a tool to create gridlock in our government and prevent those entrusted with the direction of our country from enacting meaningful change.
And in turn, it’s prevented us from making progress on voting rights and other legislation that would empower our nation’s most marginalized folks, including people of color, low-income communities, and more.
Friends, breaking the filibuster for voting rights is our moral imperative – not just for today’s policy battles but for its legacy for generations to come. I am so proud of my friend Chuck, and my team stands behind him in his efforts to change the filibuster rules.
