Look, this should be simple. Florida's beaches are OUR beaches. Nobody, not a giant hotel company, or Mike Huckabee, should be able to fense you off from YOUR beach.

 

 

Look, I wasn't in the legislature when in 2018 the majority sided with Mike Huckabee and his crusade to keep the kids off of his sandy lawn, but I'm here now and I just filed HB6111 to repeal the entire law, strike it from the books, and return YOUR beach to YOU.

 

Here's a quick explainer, but simply, the former Republican presidential hopeful turned Fox News personality (funny how that's so common these days) started trespassing beachgoers under his new-found right to own Florida's beach in front of his mansion. I think that's dumb, so I'm erasing the entire law that he's using. 

 

Florida's beaches belong to the people of Florida. Go pop your umbrella anywhere you want, take a stroll as far as your legs will carry you, and let your kids build that castle anywhere they want. It's your damn beach.
