Much of my work in Congress—whether it’s holding CEOs of big banks
accountable, introducing legislation to lower the cost of prescription
drugs, or advocating for affordable child care—comes down to the idea that
all of the wealth in our country should not belong to just a handful of
people.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, wealth inequality has only grown.

* Three Americans hold more wealth than half of the country combined.
* The top 1% holds one out of every three dollars of our nation’s
wealth.
* Among developed countries, household wealth is most uneven in the U.S.

This type of inequality isn’t healthy for capitalism, and it keeps us from
having the strong, stable, globally competitive economy our country needs.

To reduce the wealth gap so that all families have a chance to succeed, we
need to fix our tax system. The ultra-wealthy and large corporations must
pay their fair share, just like working people already do. [ [link removed] ]This year,
Congress needs to pass legislation to create a more fair tax system. If
