Big turnout for MassGOP campaign training events Event in North Andover draws enthusiastic crowd as Republicans gear up for midterms Jan. 14, 2021 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Evan Lips, communications director 617-523-5005 ext. 245 WOBURN -- Tuesday night's campaign training event in North Andover, featuring elected Republicans including North Reading state Rep. Brad Jones and Gloucester state Sen. Bruce Tarr, drew a large and enthusiastic crowd, with Massachusetts Republican Party Chairman Jim Lyons calling the evening a success. "I believe this is a sign of good things to come for Republicans this year," Lyons said. "The enthusiasm in the room was evident and showed me that folks out there are passionate and looking to get involved." Other Republicans who spoke included gubernatorial candidate Geoff Diehl, candidate for secretary of state Rayla Campbell, congressional candidate Bob May, and Braintree School Committee member Matt Lynch. Lynch was pressured to end his 10-year career as a Braintree High School teacher after media reports suggested without any proof that he was an active participant in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Hill riot. Lynch had traveled to Washington, D.C., that week to attend President Trump's rally. However, this past fall he ran for -- and won -- a seat on the Braintree School Committee, garnering more than 2,300 votes on election day. "Matt is exactly the kind of candidate we're looking for," Lyons said. "Here's a guy who stood up for his beliefs, relentlessly campaigned on behalf of parents in his hometown, and won. "I have a feeling there are a lot of people like Matt out there in Massachusetts, and we're excited to connect with them." MassGOP's campaign training events will continue tomorrow morning in Leominster. Interested parties can sign up to attend by clicking here.
