John,
My name is Odessa Kelly, and I'm running for Congress in my hometown: Nashville, TN. We just learned that Republicans in the Tennessee legislature are planning to break up the city of Nashville in new Congressional maps. For 200 years, Nashville has been represented by a single Congressional district, but in a racist power grab, the GOP is trying to split us into 3 districts.
These maps show us exactly what happens when white supremacists are given the power and tools to destroy our democracy. Dividing up Nashville is an intentional attempt to dilute the voices of Black and brown voters in Tennessee and destroy a progressive, Democratic stronghold in our state.
John, your voice has power here. Will you sign our petition to the Tennessee state legislature urging them to reject the proposed Congressional maps and keep Nashville whole?

Nashville has only been represented in Congress by white men. It’s no coincidence that when the first openly gay Black woman is mounting the most serious challenge to win this district, they want to break it up.
We have to fight back. Join me by adding your name to our petition to the Tennessee legislature to denounce the racist gerrymandering in our new congressional map.
When we claim our power in this country, the image of this country changes. That’s how we make our country — our home — work for all of us, not just for a wealthy few.
If you’re with me, sign our petition to show that we won’t let our communities be silenced.
In solidarity,
Odessa Kelly
