Trump’s Big Lie might have reached a peak with the January 6 insurrection, but Republicans in Maine have been trying to dismantle democracy in our own home state for years.

When Maine Republicans lost their majorities in 2011, state Republican Party Chair Charlie Webster refused to accept the fact that Mainers wanted a change. Instead, he went on a racist rampage, blaming “dozens, dozens of Black people who came in and voted on Election Day.”

Assaults on democracy are nothing new from the Maine GOP. We’re ready to organize in every corner of the state to stop them, and we’re counting on you to help. Can you pitch in $5?

And the lies didn’t stop with Charlie Webster. Even weeks before the 2016 election happened, Paul LePage claimed without evidence that he was “not confident of a clean election in Maine.” LePage took his lies to another level in 2018, calling a congressional race a “stolen election.”

Maine Republicans know their policies are unpopular with voters, so they’ll go to any length to tip elections in their favor - even if it means undermining our democracy Every person in Maine deserves the right to vote in a free and fair election. We need to expand and protect voting rights in Maine, not restrict them.
